Eastlake Veterinary Hospital is a full service veterinary hospital providing high quality medical, surgical, and dental care for dogs and cats. We emphasize preventative health measures which may increase both the quality and longevity of our patient's lives. In difficult cases we may utilize specialists in internal medicine, surgery, radiology, dentistry, cardiology, opthalmology, dermatology and other sub-specialties either on a consultation basis or as a direct referral.
Preventative Care: We recommend annual or semiannual exams depending on the age of your dog or cat. These visits allow us to: detect problems at an early stage when treatment is most effective, educate our clients on strategies to prevent the onset of disease and recommend and perform proper immunizations (vaccinations) which are an integral part of maintaining your pet's good health.
Oral care/ Dentistry: It has been established in both people and pets that maintaining optimum general health is dependent on maintaining a healthy oral cavity. Since your pet cannot tell you when dental problems arise, we rely on routine exams to evaluate this aspect of your pet's health. Periodontal disease, fractured teeth, and other oral health problems are common in dogs and cats; our goal is to advise you on how to prevent and properly treat such conditions. We have a fully equipped dental suite including a Schick DR digital dental x-ray unit which aids us in providing high quality dental care.
Radiology: We have a fully equipped radiology suite including a state of the art Fuji CR digital x-ray processor. Digital x-rays show more detail and allow us to acquire more information regarding your pet's medical condition. All of our digital x-rays are read by both our veterinarians and a board certified veterinary radiologist at AMI (Animal Medical Imaging).
Ultrasound: For ultrasound exams and other advanced imaging procedures we either refer our clients to AMI or have a mobile veterinary radiologist perform the procedure at our office.
Cardiology: For cases that warrant we will have a board certified cardiologist, Dr. Jerry Woodfield, come to our office to do cardiac ultrasound and other diagnostic procedures.
Surgery: In addition to ovariohysterectomy and castration (spay /neuter) we perform numerous general surgical procedures, the most common of which are growth and tumor removals, biopsies, oral surgery and laceration repair. Procedures beyond our level of expertise are generally referred to a board certified veterinary surgeon, usually at the Animal Surgical Clinic of Seattle (ASC).
Boarding: We offer boarding for cats and small dogs on a limited basis. Since space is limited, we only offer this service for existing clients. Please feel free to print and fill out the boarding form prior to your scheduled visit. We also maintain a list of boarding facilities that have been highly recommended by our clients. Since these boarding facilities are independent businesses, we advise you to use your own judgment and be sure you are comfortable with the services they offer.
Laboratory: Our in house laboratory is well equipped. Common procedures performed are internal parasite identification, cytology, urinalysis, fungal cultures, FeLV/FIV virus tests, and blood chemistries. We utilize our local veterinary laboratory (Phoenix) for other advanced laboratory procedures. Since we have twice daily pickup we often receive our lab results the same day.
Senior Care: At Eastlake Veterinary Hospital we define a senior as a cat or small dog over ten years of age, or a large dog over eight years of age. Our senior care program is designed to help us diagnose hidden problems in this high risk group of patients at an early stage where treatment is most effective. For senior patients we will recommend a blood screen and urinalysis at the annual (or semiannual) physical exam. The most common diseases we diagnose in our senior patients are dental disease, renal (kidney) disease, cardiac (heart) disease, and hyperthyroidism in cats.
Microchip Identification-AVID: We recommend some kind of
identification for all pets. We offer AVID microchip permanent
identification given by a simple injection during an office visit.
